Recommended applications for Calcium Carbonate:
Kaolin (china clay) is a hydrated aluminium silicate crystalline mineral (kaolinite) formed over many millions of years by the hydrothermal decomposition of granite rocks. Hydrous kaolin is characterized by its fine particle size, plate-like or lamellar particle shape and chemical inertness.
Formulated into Paint, fine kaolin such as Supreme™ can act as a functional extender of TiO2, reducing formulation costs and improving rheology. Coarser kaolins, Polwhite™ B & Polwhite™ E do not offer so much potential to extend TiO2 but do enhance the dry film properties of primers and undercoats. Polsperse™ 10 offers paint makers the possibility to extend TiO2 in solvent based gloss paints processed using high speed dissolvers rather than bead mills traditionally associated with this type of paint, and thus limiting processing time and increasing efficiency.
Rubber formulations benefit from the use of fine kaolin like Supreme™ and Speswhite™, which give semi-reinforcing properties and good barrier properties, particularly useful in automotive hose applications. The coarser kaolin like Polwhite™ E, can be used in flooring compounds to increase abrasion resistance as well as reducing production costs.
In sealants and adhesives, kaolin is used to modify rheological properties.
The Ultramarine Blue industry uses kaolin as a raw material for the synthesis of this important pigment, which is itself widely used in the Performance Minerals industries.
One of the latest developments is the Optigloss™ XD, an ultrafine kaolin extender for high gloss water-based paints.

Calcined Kaolin is an anhydrous aluminium silicate produced by heating ultrafine natural kaolin to high temperatures in a kiln. The calcination process increases whiteness and hardness, improves electrical properties, and alters the size and shape of the kaolin particles.
PoleStar™ 200P is a very effective opacifying extender in paint, partially replacing TiO2and reducing the overall cost of paint formulations while maintaining paint film quality.
When formulated into film compounds calcined kaolin improves the thermal properties of agricultural films, giving the potential to reduce heating costs, reduce the planting to cropping time and increase the length of the growing season. In film that requires antiblock additives, calcined kaolin offers an ideal and cost-effective balance of antiblock, haze and clarity performance.
In plastics calcined kaolins are used in PVC cables to improve electrical performance and in its coated form (like Polarite™ 102A) as a functional filler in engineering thermoplastics.
Recommended applications for Calcined Kaolin:
Mica are a group of lamellar, silicate minerals. Mica deposits are mined for mica only or in combination with other minerals such as kaolin or feldspar. We can differentiate them from other silicate minerals mainly by their high aspect ratio and elasticity. Using a variety of selection and processing methods mica are separated from the other minerals, presenting a wide range of particle sizes.

Engineered Aluminium Silicate
Diatomaceous earth (DE or diatomite) is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock (skeletal remains of single-celled aquatic plants called diatoms) that is easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder. Depending on the granularity, this powder can have an abrasive feel and has a low density as a result of its high porosity.
Diatomite represents a very rare occurrence, a mineral silica that has an elaborate structure worked by nature into a labyrinth of tiny holes. No other silica source that is mined or chemically prepared has such a structure. The key to the exceptional properties of diatomite lies more in the microstructure, each diatom is peppered with thousands of holes, usually of three distinct sizes, ranging from a few microns in diameter down to submicron diameters. The number and sizes of these holes vary with the species.
The combination of the natural silica composition, the overall structure of the diatom particles, and the network of holes in the structure are responsible for the unique properties of these multifunctional mineral products.
One of the latest developments is EcoFlat™ 1880. It's designed to matt low VOC decorative emulsion paints where, in addition to effective matting, its low oil absorption and high hardness give improved mechanical properties.

Perlite products are made from an amorphous alumino-silicate rock, which has some very special properties: it contains water, which expands into steam on heating, producing a foamed structure. The type of foaming depends very much on the hardness of the particular perlite ore, and the initial concentration of water. Only a few, select deposits have the correct characteristics for expansion.
Recommended applications for Perlite:
Feldspars are aluminosilicates. Their fusibility and purity make them a useful raw material with many industrial applications. The geological context specific to each deposit gives the feldspars a variety of physical and chemical properties, thus providing products for a full-range of ceramic and glass-making applications.

We have two types of sodium carbonates in our product range, a light one and a dense one. They are mainly used in detergents.
ImerPlast™ is designed to help you achieve bottom line savings by enabling the use of recycled polymers in value added applications, such as pipes and geomembranes.
ImerPlast™ technology brings compatibalisation of the different
polymers (HDPE, PP and PE), helping to maintain impact resistance and increase
flexural modulus, even at high mineral loadings.

Due to the nature of the feed ImerPlast™ is only available in black.
ImerPlast™ has been successfully used in the manufacture of pipes for drains, cable ducting, sewerage, drilling or for cores for winding of plastics.
