Paint & Coatings
Barium Sulfate
Barium sulfate (Baryte or BaSO4) is available from different locations, with natural white and off-white grades. It has a very high specific gravity, chemical inertness and low oil absorption.
Bauxite
Bauxite is used for the extraction of aluminium minerals as a metal.
Bentonite
Bentonite is a highly absorbent and viscous plastic clay. It can be used as a binding, sealing, absorbing and lubricating agent.
Calcined Kaolin
Calcined Kaolin is an anhydrous aluminium silicate produced by heating ultrafine natural kaolin to high temperatures in a kiln. The calcination process increases whiteness and hardness, improves electrical properties, and alters the size and shape of the kaolin particles. In plastics calcined kaolins are used in PVC cables to improve electrical performance and in its coated form as a functional filler in engineering thermoplastics.
Calcium Carbonate
In our product range we have both treated and untreated Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC), marble and chalk grades.
Cristobalite
Cristobalite functional fillers are engineered materials produced by high temperature modification of quartz which gives an extremely white particle with a distinctive surface morphology.
Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomaceous earth (DE or diatomite) is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock (skeletal remains of single-celled aquatic plants called diatoms) that is easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder. Depending on the granularity, this powder can have an abrasive feel and has a low density as a result of its high porosity.
Engineered Aluminium Silicate
Our OpTiMat range is composed of engineered aluminium silicates for deep matt decorative paint formulations.
Feldspar
Feldspars are aluminosilicates. Their fusibility and purity make them a useful raw material with many industrial applications. The geological context specific to each deposit gives the feldspars a variety of physical and chemical properties, thus providing products for a full-range of ceramic and glass-making applications.
Flame Retardants
Thanks to the Sibelco product range, Deltamat-Paquet has several mineral products with good flame retardant properties:
Ground ATH, Natural Magnesium Hydroxide, Hydrated Magnesium-Calcium Carbonate, Hydrated Calcium Borate.
Glass Powder
This high quality amorphous calcium-aluminium silicate is ideal for use in Paint & Coatings.
Kaolin
Kaolin (china clay) is a hydrated aluminium silicate crystalline mineral (kaolinite) formed over many millions of years by the hydrothermal decomposition of granite rocks. Hydrous kaolin is characterized by its fine particle size, plate-like or lamellar particle shape and chemical inertness.
Lithopone
Lithopone is a mixture of inorganic compounds, mainly used as white pigment powder. It is composed of a mixture of barium sulfate and zinc sulfide.
Marble granulates
Mica
Mica are a group of lamellar, silicate minerals. Mica deposits are mined for mica only or in combination with other minerals such as kaolin or feldspar. We can differentiate them from other silicate minerals mainly by their high aspect ratio and elasticity. Using a variety of selection and processing methods mica are separated from the other minerals, presenting a wide range of particle sizes.
Micaceous Iron Oxide
A naturally occurring lamellar form of ferrous oxide for use in manufacturing paint coatings.
Nepheline Syenite (Minex)
Minex functional fillers offer a unique combination of physical and chemical properties, delivering premium performance in architectural, wood and powder coating systems.
Perlite
Perlite products are made from an amorphous alumino-silicate rock, which has some very special properties: it contains water, which expands into steam on heating, producing a foamed structure. The type of foaming depends very much on the hardness of the particular perlite ore, and the initial concentration of water. Only a few, select deposits have the correct characteristics for expansion.
Pigments
Sodachem offers a wide range of organic and inorganic pigments from different validated sources.
Quartz
Our quartz sand is chemically inert and pH neutral at its surface. It offers a unique combination of hardness and chemical resistance.
Synthetic Silicates
Talc
Talc is the softest mineral on earth. Talc is a very white and pure mineral which has a platelet structure and a high aspect ratio.
TiO2 & White Pigments
Titanium dioxide is sourced from ilmente, rutile and anatase. It is extracted by using the sulphate process or the chloride process. Sodachem offers a full range of high quality grades for the coating, ink, rubber, fiber and paper industries.
Water Repellent Additives
Wollastonite
Wollastonite (CaSiO3) is an industrial mineral chemically composed of calcium, silicon and oxygen. It’s mainly used for its reinforcement properties.
Zinc Oxide
Sodachem is the sales agent for Arabian Zinc. Arabian Zinc Manufactures Zinc Oxide through the ‘French process’, with the modern facilities from high purity raw materials to obtain various and most suitable grades and to supply different kinds of the industries and applications.
