REACH & product safety

How we handle regulatory compliance and documentation · Last updated: 15 October 2026

SOD.DEL distributes industrial minerals and speciality chemicals to professional users in Europe. Regulatory compliance is part of the product. This page describes how we work; for documents on a specific grade, use our contact page.

1. Our role in the supply chain

Under Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) we act as a distributor and, for material sourced outside the European Economic Area, as an importer or through an Only Representative appointed by the manufacturer. We only place substances and mixtures on the EU market that are registered by the manufacturer, importer or Only Representative for the tonnage band and uses concerned, or that are exempt from registration (for instance many naturally occurring minerals that are not chemically modified, Annex V).

2. What we check before a product enters our range

  • REACH status: registration number or exemption, with the registered uses covering our customers' applications.
  • Classification and labelling under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), including the correct hazard communication for grades such as titanium dioxide powders or respirable crystalline silica.
  • Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHC): screening at 0.1 % w/w and communication down the supply chain when applicable (article 33).
  • Restrictions under Annex XVII, including the restriction on intentionally added synthetic polymer microparticles for polymer beads.
  • Biocidal products (Regulation (EU) 528/2012): authorisation status of product and active substance for the intended product type. Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
  • Where relevant: food contact, feed and pharmacopoeia grades, and transport classification (ADR/IMDG).

3. The documents we provide

DocumentWhat it coversWhen
Safety data sheet (SDS)Hazards, handling, exposure, transport — in the official language(s) of the country of delivery, in the current REACH Annex II formatWith the first delivery, with every revision, and on request
Technical data sheet (TDS)Typical properties, particle size, chemistry, recommended applicationsWith samples and quotations
Certificate of analysis (CoA)Measured values for the delivered lotWith each delivery, on request
REACH / regulatory statementRegistration number or exemption, SVHC statement, food contact or other specific declarations where available from the producerOn request

4. How to request documentation

Send us the product name, the grade and, if known, your application and country of delivery through our contact page, by e-mail to support@soddel.com or by telephone on +32 2 526 92 10. Our internal sales team answers within one working day and, where a question has to go back to the producer, keeps you informed of the timing. An online document portal linked to our product database is in preparation; until then all documents are supplied on request.

5. Keeping you informed

When a classification changes, a substance is added to the Candidate List, a restriction is adopted or a safety data sheet is revised, we inform the customers who have received that product within the previous twelve months. We keep the regulatory file for every product we supply for at least ten years after the last supply, as REACH requires.

6. Safe handling of minerals and powders

Many of our products are fine powders. Even where they are not classified as hazardous, dust should be controlled: use closed transfer where possible, local exhaust ventilation, and respiratory protection as indicated in the safety data sheet. Grades containing respirable crystalline silica require specific workplace measures under Directive 2004/37/EC. Our technical team can help you select grades and packaging that reduce exposure.
